Crowdfunding Is The New Crowdsurfing!

We have all seen people crowd surf before. They are usually rockstars who are performing at their concert and decide to jump into the audience. People gather all around, and life this individual up into the air while giving him support and strength. I always love seeing people gather the courage to crowd surf, because it shows how willing they are to put themselves out there and trust that other people will (literally) have their back.

Essentially, this is the same for crowdfunding. The definition of crowdfunding is “the practice of funding a project or venture by raising small amounts of money from a large number of people, typically via the Internet.” This means that someone starts with a business idea, and then gathers enough courage to take it public and hope that a large group of people will provide enough support and funding in order for that idea to flourish.

After looking at both the Coolest Cooler and MudTails crowdfunding pages, there are quite a few differences that set them apart from one another. For starters, the Coolest Cooler page had way more information and credibility. They had an image with a bunch of the top news and publication sites, and captioned it “Looks Who Talking About The Coolest.” This just made it seem way more validated, and a product that you would feel comfortable donating to because you know it would be a pretty safe investment.

On the other hand, the MudTails page did not have as much information on it. They had a short explanation of what the product would be, but no real specifics as to what the mission statement was and what the actual logistics of producing it would be. They also were only asking for $2,750. This is not enough to make an impactful production of the shirts, so I feel like that is a part of their business plan that they could improve upon.
